How to play Sevens
You and three computer opponents receive 13 cards each. The player holding the seven of diamonds opens the table. Sevens is also known as Fan Tan or Parliament.
- Play another seven to open its suit.
- Extend an open suit by exactly one rank at either end. From seven, build down to Ace and up to King.
- Play one card per turn. Passing is only allowed when none of your cards fit.
- The first player to empty their hand ends the round.
Scoring and winning
The player who goes out scores zero. Everyone else counts the cards still in hand: Ace is one, numbered cards are face value, and Jack, Queen and King are ten each. Once anyone reaches 100 points, the lowest total wins. Tied lowest totals share the victory.
Reading the table
Each suit shows its lowest played card, its seven and its highest played card. The text underneath lists all played ranks. The exposed ends tell you what can come next.
When to hold a seven
Opening a suit helps everyone. If you have several legal moves, think about which one opens a route for your own distant cards. Holding a seven can delay opponents, but you cannot pass while holding a playable card.
