Play the 99 Card Game Online Free

Ninety-Nine turns a small three-card hand into a game of timing. Play against Mina, Leo, and Rosa, three computer opponents. Add to the shared total without taking it above 99. Special cards let you pass, reverse direction, lower the total, or jump straight to 99.

This is the addition card game Ninety-Nine, not the unrelated trick-taking game with the same name. No account, download, betting, or payment is needed to play.

How to Play Ninety-Nine

1. Each player starts with three lives and three cards. The running total starts at zero.
2. Play one card and draw a replacement automatically. Each card shows the resulting total before you choose it.
3. A play is safe when its resulting total is 99 or less. If you have no safe card, you lose one life and the round ends.
4. The deck is shuffled for a new round and the total resets to zero. A player who lost their last life is eliminated.
5. Outlast all three opponents to win. Your match ends as a loss if you lose all three lives.

Special Card Values

• Ace: add 1, or choose the separate Ace +11 button.
• 4: reverse the direction without changing the total.
• 9: keep the total unchanged and pass play onward.
• 10: subtract 10.
• King: set the total to 99, including when it is already 99.
• Jack and Queen: add 10. Other number cards add their face value.

At a total of 95, a 3 makes 98 and is safe; a Queen would make 105 and cannot be played. A 10 makes 85. At 99, a 4, 9, 10, or King still saves you.

House Rules and Turn Order

We use the special values described by Bicycle's Ninety-Nine rules. This table uses a standard deck without jokers. Negative totals are allowed after a 10. With two surviving players, a reverse still passes to the other player. Eliminated players are skipped.

The player who lost a life starts the next round if still in; otherwise the next surviving player starts. Direction resets to clockwise each round. If the stock runs out during play, older discards are shuffled into a new stock, preserving the most recent face-up card.

Ninety-Nine Strategy

Try to keep a safety card for later. A 9 or 4 is especially useful when the total reaches 99. Playing a King can pressure the next player, but you are giving up a card that could save you later. Watch the direction before choosing a 4.

The computers choose from their own hands and the public total only. They cannot inspect your hand or the next card in the stock.

Controls and Results

Click or tap a safe card to play it. Use Tab, Enter, and Space for keyboard play. For an Ace, the card itself adds 1 and the separate button adds 11. If every card is unsafe, choose No Safe Card: Lose a Life. Review the action list before starting the next round.

A full-match win earns 1,000 game-score points plus 100 for each life remaining. Losses earn zero. Surviving a single round is not a match win. New Game or reloading starts over; unfinished matches are not saved.
