Play Ten Pennies Online Free
Seven rummy contracts and ten chances to buy the perfect card. Build sets, open your hand and keep your score low.
How to play Ten Pennies
Four players use two standard decks with four jokers. Everyone starts each round with 11 cards. Your ten buy tokens last for the entire seven-round match. Tokens have no cash value, and no money is wagered.
- The top discard is offered first to the player whose turn it is, then clockwise. The first player to buy takes that card plus two stock cards and spends one token.
- If someone else buys, or everyone passes, the active player draws one stock card automatically. Buying on your own turn replaces that regular draw.
- Lay down the full opening contract at once. The Lay Down Contract button finds a valid arrangement in your hand.
- Once open, make new sets of at least three or add selected cards to any existing set. Finish your turn by discarding one card.
- The round ends as soon as someone has no cards, even if their final move is a meld rather than a discard.

Sets and wild cards
Sets contain cards of the same rank, with no repeated natural suit. Runs do not count. Jokers are always wild. Aces and twos also become wild in rounds five, six and seven. Each set allows at most one wild in rounds one to three, two in rounds four to six, and three in round seven. Every set needs at least one natural card. These limits still apply when adding cards to an existing set.
Scoring
Cards left in your hand cost points: 3 through 9 cost 5 each; 10, jack, queen and king cost 10; ace and two cost 20; jokers cost 50. The lowest total after seven rounds wins. Ties share the win.
Our table rules
The discard pile recycles when the stock runs out, preserving its top card. A purchase is unavailable if the required extra cards cannot be drawn. If no regular draw is possible, or a round reaches 250 completed turns, remaining cards are scored and the next round begins.
