Penguin Solitaire - FreeCell Family Variant

Penguin is a skill-focused patience game with 7 flippers and a special “beak” card. The beak rank sets where foundations start, and it also controls which cards can fill empty tableau columns.

How to Play Penguin Solitaire

  • Beak: The first dealt card sets the starting rank for all foundations.
  • Foundations: Build up by suit starting at the beak rank (wrapping after King).
  • Tableau: Build down by suit.
  • Flippers: Use 7 single-card cells for temporary storage.
  • Empty columns: Only the rank directly below the beak can start an empty column.

Strategy Tips

  • Empty columns are powerful, but only one rank can start them, so protect those cards.
  • Use flippers to preserve suit runs and avoid breaking sequences.
  • Move to foundations steadily to unblock key cards in the tableau.
