Draw from the stock or discard pile, place scoring melds on the table, lay off cards that fit existing melds, and discard one card to finish the turn.

This practice version uses a two-seat table, but the lesson is the same as team play: build table value and keep leftover cards low.

• Sets need at least three cards of the same rank.
• Runs need at least three consecutive cards in one suit.
• Melded cards score for you; cards left in hand count against you.
• You may lay off cards on existing melds when they extend the set or run.
• The match is won by reaching 500 points before the opponent.

• Build melds that leave flexible layoff cards for later turns.
• Take from discard only when the extra cards create enough value.
• Think in table value, not just hand value.
