Our table: 32-card Double Deck Bid Euchre
This is the four-player partnership version with two copies of each jack, queen, king and ace. It is not the 40-card or 48-card version. You partner with Leo, opposite Mina and Rosa.
How to play
- Receive eight cards. Bid once, clockwise from the dealer's left. Choose your suit and bid together. Numbers 1 through 8 promise that many tricks. A new bid must be higher; suits do not break bidding ties. If the first three players pass, the dealer must bid.
- Call 2 outranks 8, Call 1 outranks Call 2, and Moon is highest. These contracts promise all eight tricks alone.
- On Call 2 or Call 1, send two cards or one card to your partner and receive the same number back. Neither player sees incoming cards before choosing outgoing cards. The partner then sits out. Moon has no exchange.
- The bidder leads. Follow suit if possible. Highest trump wins, otherwise highest in the led suit. An identical second copy never beats the first copy played.
- Play eight tricks, review the scorecard and deal again.
Trump and bowers
The trump jack is highest. The other jack of the same color is next and belongs to trump, even when following suit. Then come ace, king and queen. Without trump, jacks keep their printed suits and aces are highest.
Scoring
| Contract | Made | Missed |
|---|---|---|
| 1 through 8 | Number of tricks taken | Subtract the bid |
| Call 2 | 12 | -12 |
| Call 1 | 18 | -18 |
| Moon | 24 | -24 |
Defenders always receive one point per trick. At 52 or more, or -52 or below, the higher-scoring team wins. A tied score continues for another hand.
A useful first strategy
Duplicate cards matter: your ace can lose to an identical ace played earlier. Watch the public trick record and your partner's bid. A long trump holding is safer than scattered picture cards. Hints and opponents use their own cards and public information only.
Controls and saving
Click or tap a legal card, or drag it to the center with a mouse. Keyboard users can Tab to a control and press Enter. On narrow screens, scroll your hand sideways to see every card. Hints never inspect opponents' hands. Sound is optional, reduced motion is respected, and the game pauses when the tab is hidden. Progress is saved after each move. Completed matches submit one account result. Guest results stay in this browser.
