Play Bid Whist Online
Bid Whist is the American partnership variant of Whist. Wikipedia describes the key differences: bidding chooses the trump or no-trump contract, high or low direction can matter, and scoring is based on books above six.
How to Play Bid Whist
This browser version starts with a clear practice contract: your side bids four books with spades as trump. Win at least ten total tricks as a partnership to make the bid. If your side falls short, the bid is subtracted from your score.
Bid Whist Rules
- Four players sit in two partnerships.
- Each side counts books above the first six tricks.
- The bidding side must make its bid or be set.
- This practice table uses an uptown spade bid for clear onboarding.
- First side to seven points wins the match.
Bid Whist Strategy
Protect the bid first. Trump in only when it helps your side make the contract, and try to lead suits where your partner may be strong. For the no-bid parent game, play Whist.
