How to Play Scorpion Solitaire

Scorpion Solitaire is a free online patience card game where you build same-suit sequences from King down to Ace. Any face-up card can move with all cards above it, creating deep tactical play and high-skill recovery turns. See the Scorpion win rate for realistic expectations.

Objective

Complete four full suited runs in the tableau, each descending from King to Ace. Once all four runs are formed, you win the Scorpion Solitaire game.

Scorpion Solitaire Rules

The initial layout has seven tableau columns with mixed face-up and face-down cards, plus a reserve stock. Your legal moves and empty-column control decide most games.

  • Build tableau columns down by suit (for example, 9♥ on 10♥).
  • You may move any face-up card, even from the middle of a column.
  • All face-up cards above the moved card travel as one packet.
  • Only a King or a King-led packet can move into an empty tableau column.
  • Click the reserve pile to deal extra cards when no productive move remains.
  • The win condition is tableau-based: create four full same-suit K→A runs.

Scorpion Solitaire Strategy

  • Expose face-down cards early in the first columns to unlock move density.
  • Protect empty columns for Kings so you keep a high-value maneuver space.
  • Delay reserve deals until you have extracted as many face-down cards as possible.
  • Prioritize building long same-suit packets before committing to short local moves.
  • When two moves look equal, choose the line that reveals hidden cards fastest.

Scorpion Variants

Popular variants include Scorpion II, Wasp, and Three Blind Mice. This page features classic Scorpion Solitaire, while our Double Scorpion Solitaire version uses two decks for a longer, deeper challenge.

  • Scorpion II: Similar rules with easier opening exposure pattern.
  • Wasp: Empty spaces accept any card or sequence, increasing flexibility.
  • Three Blind Mice: Ten-column setup with extra face-up helper cards.
