3 Essential Checkers Tactics to Win More Games

1. Control the "Center"

One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is hugging the side of the board. While edges feel safe (you can't be jumped from the side), they severely limit your options. Controlling the center squares (rows 3, 4, 5) gives you mobility and splits the opponent's forces.

2. Don't Move Your Back Row Early

Your back row (the row closest to you) is your last line of defense. As long as those pieces stay put, your opponent cannot get a King. Try to keep at least two key back-row pieces in place until the endgame.

3. The "Two-For-One" Sacrifice

Since captures are mandatory, you can force your opponent into a bad spot. A classic tactic is to move a piece where it *must* be captured, but that capture lands the opponent's piece exactly where you can double-jump them in return.
